On Saturday April 27th, Gachina Landscape Management participated in the annual IFMA SV / GROW Organization Spring community outreach in recognition of Earth Day. This year’s recipient of a “facelift” was the Costano School and San Francisco 49ers Academy in East Palo Alto. The academy provides middle and high school students from EPA with a community of support that empowers them to be engaged in school, reach their full potential, and achieve academic success. Whether it’s clean clothes, help with schoolwork, or emotional support, they connect students with the relationships and resources they need to succeed. Five Gachina employees volunteered their Saturday to pitch in on this worthwhile cause.
Team Gachina Peninsula Branch pruned hedges to remove overgrown limbs and create a formal look. They structurally pruned to open canopies on small trees. Gachina donated soil and removed green waste. 5 cubic yards of small fir bark was spread throughout for a neat, clean appearance. Gachina donated over $4,000.00 for labor, materials and equipment.
Gachina has participated in this annual community outreach program for 20+ years. The makeover included fresh paint, carpentry services, new furniture and flooring. Donations included 1,500 square feet of carpet, office furniture, wood for carpentry and lunch for all volunteers. Other event sponsors included Slatter Construction, MB Jessee, DFS, Dryco, Valley Mechanical, Reliable Concepts, Kelly Moore, Cosmopolitan Catering, Tarkett, Intel, CBRE and Mentor Technical Group.
